Sounds like a law firm, right?

Actually, it's an apt description of what many people are facing, day in and day out.

They seek relief from anti-depressants, vacations, separations and divorces, job changes ... and often through drinking or drugs.

It doesn't have to be that way.

Depression, Stress and Burnout are coping mechanisms for dealing with a life that lacks meaning and purpose. Each contains within it a specific set of symptoms, all of which have in common the body shutting down or slowing down its potential for wholeness.

Each depression, each stress attack, each burnout is different. Just as you are different from the person sitting next to you.

I work with the whole person. Through an exploration of your life -- your attitudes, relationships, beliefs, the way you carry and take care of your body, what you eat and drink, how you work -- in short, who you are -- I help you to make choices that allow you to heal.

I have no fast fixes or instant cures. I do promise you careful listening, reflection on what I hear, and a manageable plan for learning better ways of dealing with your life issues.

Through either face-to-face or telephone counselling,

I will teach you relaxation techniques and proper breathing -- each designed to help you to direct your body in more healthful ways.

We will explore how you communicate, and what your expectations are regarding your relationships.

My relationships philosophy is deceptively simple. In order for your relationship to work -- to be filled with life and change and growth, you have to be willing to:

  • suspend judgment
  • be present -- meaning being totally tuned in to your partner
  • be intimate -- meaning being willing to share who you are and what you are about, at the depth of your being, with total honesty.

We look at your belief system.

Almost always, non-clinical depression is triggered by your life not matching your belief system. In other words, you want the world to be other than it is, and depression results from the world refusing to change. We look deeply at the beliefs that "don't fit." My goal is to help you to begin to choose how you see the world.

We will also discuss your stress - holding patterns.

Each of us has a particular way of dealing with stress, and for many people, this involves tightening up, repressing feelings and emotions and locking down the stress. The result, at the least, is muscular tightness. beyond that is ample evidence of stress resulting in ulcers, heart conditions, gastrointestinal distress, fibromyalgia and a host of other biological problems.

I will propose, demonstrate and teach you to different ways of being.

I will help you to release the tension you hold, through release exercises, meditation, proper breathing, and, if you choose, release techniques aimed at removing the tension from your body.

As you will notice, I propose a whole self model of therapy. I want you to be whole.

I will walk with you on a path of self knowing.
