Pain Reduction resources

dvd pain management

In May of 2008, Darbella and I released a DVD-book set designed to give injured workers tools to moderate chronic pain. We've now conducted several workshops featuring these tools, and are making the dvd-book set available to you! If you click on the above image, you'll be redirected to the description page.

Thank you for the book and DVD set. I went to visit my girlfriend on Tuesday until yesterday and I took it with me. She was so excited to watch it, so we put it in the player. Not 5 minutes into the DVD and she was not so delicately snoring away!!! You really know how to keep a room's attention!!! LOLOL She said she got so relaxed from the getgo that she just kind of floated away.

Then the next day while I napped she watched it and loved it. She said it was exactly what she had been looking for, and I agree - someone who slows down and gives you time to learn before moving on to the next move. It was wonderful.

Now that I am home I am going to schedule time to follow your instructions - this looks like something I can do without hurting myself. I have tried a couple of the moves already from the beginning and no problem so far.

I mentioned that I napped the next day - she had a couple of things to do, so I went in on the bed to read the book - got as far as page 6 and I was out like a light!!!! LOLOL

She also listened to the meditation tape and liked it but is looking for something longer that will end on an upbeat note that will lull her into sleep.. but she did like it just said it was too short. I have not had the chance to listen yet.

Again, thanks for the book and the DVD and CD. I have gotten thru the entire book once already and am starting on the second time thru. I look forward to starting to do the movements, etc. Very exciting to me. It is almost like you had me in mind when you did this. I can't wait for the rest of the series.

This Endless Moment - A new book by Wayne C. Allen

Wayne Allen has taken important complex concepts and has expressed them in an accessible and practical way. His very personal approach is remarkable. This is an excellent readable book. We're impressed!

Wayne Allen sent me one of his books to help me through my grieving. It's called "This Endless Moment" and confronts you with the stark reality that you decide what is in your life. He says in his Zen-ish book," Everything is a figment of your imagination." I love the reminder. It puts the responsibility for your well-being where it belongs: Inside.

The Haven

The Haven philosophy involves principles of individual responsibility, taking more charge of the self, with a freedom to grow to become more of who you were meant to be, while maintaining a care and sensitivity toward others. There is a constant state of tension between the individual and society. Children are raised to "fit in" to the stream of normalcy through the development and rewarding of roles, a necessary endeavour if society is to survive. However, the cost to the individual may be high; frequently, it means the loss of the sense of the authentic self. The restraint placed upon the self results in a blunting of the emotions and a loss of spontaneity, interfering with the ability to fully experience meaningful relationships. Through learning how to access those emotions, a person may return to a fuller feeling of the self, a greater sensitivity towards others, and a greater responsiveness to the demands of the environment. The net result would be a richer sense of meaning in life.

Mindfulness Training

Developed by Jon Kabat Zinn, mindfulness training is a method of focusing in on the present moment, letting go of the past, and coming to terms with pain. The link above leads to a listing of all of Kabat Zinn's books. Wherever You Go, There You Are is a personal favourite.
